The Committee of the Oxford Psychology Society is elected for one year, in the end of every Michaelmas term. This is the committee that ran the society in 2024!
My name is Tonya (she/her), and I am the President. I am a third year Psychology and Linguistics student at Worcester College. My favourite areas of psychology are clinical and social psychology and I’m hoping to go into research in the future, because I believe that those areas hold the power to make the world a better place. I am very excited to be a part of the psych soc committee and I try my best to make sure that the society activity runs smoothly and the events are well organised :)
Hi, my name is Tamsin (she/her)! I am studying psychology and linguistics at Magdalen College. I am interested in many areas across psychology, particularly the development of language in infancy and studying the individual differences in mental health outcomes throughout the lifespan. I'm excited be the vice president of the society and hope to work with the rest of the committee to help provide exciting and interesting events for all those students engaged in psychology across Oxford :))
Hi there! I'm Qianyu (she/her), and I am the secretary of Oxford Psych Soc. I'm a third year Psychology and Philosophy student at St Hugh's college. I haven't decided which parts of Psychology is/are my favourite yet, but I hope my time at psych soc will help me figure it out ;) Look out for our exciting TT events, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any suggestions for events and other things you'd like to see from our soc!
Hi! I’m Jamie (she/her), your Speakers and Outreach officer. I’m a third-year Psychology and Linguistics student at Somerville. My favourite parts of Psych are just the bits that offer interesting perspectives on topics we think we know. So in my role, I want to enable interaction with a range of speakers to explore more of Psychology’s applications, methods and possibilities! Tell me who you want to hear from, and I’ll try to make it happen :3
Hi everyone! I’m Verona (she/her), an experimental psychologist at Wadham. I am particularly interested in neuropsychology and abnormal psychology, which looks at how the brain influences the mind and behaviour. I’m so excited to be the social media officer for Psychsoc and I can’t wait to meet everyone at out events :)
Hi! I’m Henry, he/him, studying Experimental Psychology at Teddy Hall. I’m hoping to specialise in forensic psychology later down the line, looking to understand the one group of people that you see more often in movies than in real life (hopefully). It’s an honour being one of the social secretaries and part of the brilliant new psychology society committee!
